One man is dead with another wounded following two shootings allegedly linked to the Hamzy and Alameddine gang war.

Shady Kanj was shot and killed at a home on Rhodes Ave in Guildford, in Sydney’s west, on Friday night, according to The Daily Telegraph.

He was an alleged associate of the Hamzy crime network.

Kanj was murdered around 11.15pm, just five minutes after another man was allegedly shot in neighbouring suburb Chester Hill.

The unknown man survived the alleged attack and is in a stable condition in Westmead Hospital.

NSW Police are yet to confirm if both shootings are linked to the ongoing feud between the two alleged crime groups.

‘We can’t even say if the two shootings are connected at this stage,’ said one officer.

Underworld sources belonging to the Daily Telegraph claim Kanz was close to members of the Hamzy group.

‘The talk on the street is that his shooting is about the war… and it’s gonna get worse,’ the source told the publication.

NSW police released a statement on the two matters early on Saturday.

‘About 11.10pm (on Friday night), emergency services were called to Boundary Road, Chester Hill, following reports a man had been shot,’ the statement read.

‘Upon arrival, officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command located an injured man. He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene, before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

‘A short time later, emergency services were called to Rhodes Avenue, Guildford, following reports another man had been shot, about 11.15pm.

‘Police located a man with a gunshot wound. He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, however, he died at the scene.’

Officers from the Cumberland Police Area Command, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, will continue to investigate the two incidents.

Last month, two men were arrested over the murder of underworld figure Mejid Hamzy, who was gunned down outside his home in Sydney’s southwest, in 2020.

The two gunmen allegedly lay outside the 44-year-old’s home, waiting for him to emerge.

Just days before Mejid Hamzy was executed outside his home in Condell Park, a friend of the Alameddine crime group was assaulted.

In June, Hamzy’s cousin – Bilal Hamze – was ambushed and executed by gunmen in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, in what police feared was an escalation of violence between the two gangs.
